【摘要】:TestMethodD2462fortestingformoistureinwoolisconsideredsatisfactoryforacceptancetestingofcommercialshipmentssincecurrentestimatesofbetween-laboratoryprecisionareacceptable.IncaseofadisputearisingfromdifferencesinreportedtestresultswhenusingTestMethodD2462foracceptancetestingofcommercialshipments,thepurchaserandthesuppliershouldconductcomparativetestingtodetermineifthereisastatisticalbiasbetweentheirlaboratories.Competentstatisticalassistanceisrecommendedfortheinvestigationofthebias.Asaminimum,thetwopartiesshouldtakeagroupoftestspecimensthatareashomogenousaspossibleandthatarefromalotofthetypematerialinquestion.Thetestspecimensshouldbeassignedinequalnumberstoeachlaboratoryfortesting.TheaverageresultsfromthetwolaboratoriesshouldbecomparedusingStudent''st-Testforunpaireddataandanacceptanceprobabilitylevelchosenbythetwopartiesbeforethetestisbegun.Ifabiasisfound,eitheritscausemustbefoundandcorrectedorthepurchaserandthesuppliermustagreetointerpretfuturetestresultsinlightoftheknownbias.Thistestmethodisthepreferredmethodforallsuitablesamplesofwoolwhereitisimportanttoobtainaresultfreefromthepossiblebiases,introducedbytheconditionsdiscussedin5.3and5.4.Thistestmethodisfreefromtheinterferencescausedbydifferentconditionsofambientatmospheresuchasmightaffecttheresultsofoven-drying.Aslightamountofresidualmoisturemayberetainedinaspecimensubjectedtooven-dryingbecauseoftherelativehumidityoftheambientair;however,theamountofmoistureretainedmaybeestimatedfrompublisheddata.Thistestmethodisfreefromtheinterferencecausedbynonaqueousvolatilematerial.Suchmaterial,whenpresent,iserroneouslymeasuredasmoisturebyoven-dryingmethods,theextentoftheerrordependingupontheamountandcharacteristicsofanyaddedoilsorfinishes.Thistestmethodisrelativelycumbersome,timeconsuming,andcostlycomparedtooven-drying,andisnotrecommendedforroutineprocesscontrol,in-plantevaluations,orforotherpurposeswhereahighdegreeofaccuracyisnotnecessary.Thecostofoperationcanbereducedsomewhatbyredistillingtheusedtoluene,whichisthensuitableforreusewithoutfurthertreatment.Unlikeanoven-dryingmethod,anymoisturegainedorlostbyaspecimenafteritsmasshasbeendeterminedwillappearasadirecterrorinthefinalresult.Sinceoneoftheprincipalusesofthemethodistodeterminetheaveragemoisturepresentinlargelotsofwoolorwoolproductsexposedtovariableatmosphericconditions,numerouslaboratorysamplesandtestspecimensarecommon.Toavoiderrorsofthetypementionedabove,thisprocedureincludesprovisionsforstabilizingthesample(s)inthelaboratoryatmospheresothat,duringthetimenecessaryforselecting,weighing,andtransferringthespecimenstoflasks,gainorlossofmoisturewhichcannotbeaccountedforwillbeminimized.Afurtheradvantageofthestabilizingprocessisrealizedincaseswheretheinterestissolelyintheaveragemoisturecontentofthesample,andtheactualmoisturecontentwithinthesampleishighlyvariable.Bystabilizingthesamplebeforeselectingthespecimens,equalprecisioncanbeachievedwithfewerspecimens.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheamountofmoisturepresentingreasewool,scouredwool,cardedwool,garnettedwool,wooltopandintermediatewoolproducts,androvings,bydistillationwithtoluene.1.2Equationsaregivenforcalculatingtheamountofwaterpresentasmoisturecontent(as-receivedbasis)andmoistureregain(dryfiber)basis.Thetermthatcorrespondstothebasisusedinthecalculati......
